Seminar: UK Competitiveness Index 2008: Which Places are doing the Best Business in the UK

This presentation launches the 2008 edition of the UK Competitiveness Index, which is is an annual measure of the competitiveness of the 12 UK regions and more than 400 separate localities across the nation. Using a blend of metrics, it produces rankings of economic performance – both in terms of regions as places to do business and in terms of quality of life. The index was devised and compiled by Dr Robert Huggins of UWIC’s Cardiff School of Management. This presentation highlights the latest results and changes across the UK, focusing on why some places are hot and others are not. It further illustrates the challenges Wales and its cities and localities face in improving their competitiveness and becoming better places to do business.

Seminar: How to thrive a downturn: How to profit from a recession

This presentation will talk about how smart thinking and different approaches can make all the difference between thriving in, rather than just surviving a downturn. It’s about managing your business in the current climate. It will examine alternative approaches to selling - putting yourself in your customers’ shoes; conducting customer workshops, and how not to come second.

Peers de Trense will show examples of brands who spend out of a recession... and of brands and businesses that batten down the hatches, by cutting overheads and taking salary sacrifices. He will discuss reviewing your offer, creating sales tools to reflect current trading and getting new customers. Not to be missed ...!
